Eolas / Microsoft dispute back at USPTO, as an interference

IDG reported: Microsoft has confirmed that the USPTO will consider its argument that it was the first to invent the technology the Eolas patent covers, declaring "interference" in the case and scheduling a rehearing. There now will be a separate proceeding in the USPTO on the question of who owns the patent claims, said Jack Evans, a Microsoft spokesman.

Tom Sanders reported: The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has agreed to reopen the investigation into an Eolas patent that covers interactive web content.
USPTO will give Microsoft an opportunity to prove that it invented interactive web technology before Eolas. If the Redmond company is proved right, the Eolas patent will be invalidated.
