Hwang asserts truth of 2004 Science paper

Although Hwang Woo-Suk has conceded fraud as to the paper published in Science in 2005 (patient specific cell lines), he maintains that the paper published in Science in 2004 (cloning and stem cells as to one individual) is correct.

[Hwang] repudiated the university panel’s [SNU's]investigation result that the first cell line he created, the results of which were published in Science in 2004, was made through unisexual reproduction. He also said he wants to study the No. 1 stem cell by organizing an international consortium.

As noted earlier, Hwang denies violation of the bioethics law. The initial news reports do not discuss Hwang's position on the embezzlement charges.
