Salt of the earth

CBS briefly mentioned events at the SuperBowl, including flub of national anthem. Of IP/self-plagiarism issues, the Snickers ad with Roseann Barr was a rather trivial derivatization of last year's Betty White. Where's 102(f) when we need it.

The CBS news included more basic stuff than SuperBowl fluff. CBS Nightly News on Feb. 7 noted 18 million tons of salt are used in the US per year. CBS focussed on a Cargill mine under Lake Erie, which salt deposit formed 400 million years ago. Cleveland mine produces 3 million tons per year.
