Shanghai University prof accused of plagiarism

Zhu Xueqin, a history professor at Shanghai University, was accused of plagiarizing in his thesis, including copying from "Rousseau and the Republic of Virtue" by Carol Blum.

Of interest in the report from the Shanghai Daily is the text:

Isaiah said that Zhu may not be guilty of plagiarism according to academic norms at that time, but that he would surely be guilty if he had published it today.

Perceptive readers will recall this is one the defenses mounted by the plagiarizing university president Glenn Poshard.
