Supreme Court: problem with State of the Union?

The LA Times quotes Chief Justice Roberts at the University of Alabama School of Law:

"To the extent the State of the Union has degenerated into a political pep rally, I'm not sure why we are there."

POTUS, who significantly outspent his opponent in the election, was criticizing the SCOTUS decision in Citizens United, with the winning argument delivered by Floyd Abrams, well-known Democrat.

Separately, note TigerText, an app which creates self-destructing text messages. The inventor claims no association of the name with Tiger Woods. It might seem memory of "who was arguing what" in Citizens United has self-destructed.
