University of Wisconsin targets infringers of its "motion W"

The University of Wisconsin is going after Waukee High School, a suburban high school west of Des Moines over its trademarked motion W logo.

Cindy Van Matre, UW's director of licensing: "You can't put a dollar figure on the value of the motion W. But we have to protect it so it doesn't become a generic type of logo. If it's not associated with UW, anyone can say you haven't controlled the use of it."
