D. Del. judge lifts stay; Rambus sues Micron

After a stay was lifted in the federal district court for Delaware, Rambus promptly filed suit against Micron, one of the world's largest makers of computer memory chips, adding it to a series of patent-infringement suits Rambus has filed in federal court in Northern California against memory-chip manufacturers.

In the Delaware lawsuit and others, Rambus has been accused of helping to set industry standards for memory chips while secretly correlating claims of its own patents to the industry standards to ensure that others would wind up paying it royalties. A similar accusation was made against Unocal as to certain standards for gasoline in California.

Rambus has also been accused of destroying evidence while planning its patent-litigation strategy.
