Obama proposes patent fee surcharge for fiscal 2012
The solution will largely come in the form of a fee surcharge, which will give the PTO $2.7 billion in 2012, a 34 percent increase from 2010 levels.
The administration’s Patent Office plan comes as Congress again is attempting to reform the patent system. The Senate Judiciary Committee approved patent-reform legislation this month, while the House is also considering the issue.
