Steven Koonin now DOE UnderSecretary was Chief Scientist for BP

Various news entities are picking up on the fact that Steven E. Koonin, currently the Under Secretary of Energy for Science at the United States Department of Energy, was previously the Chief Scientist for BP plc, where he was responsible for guiding the company’s long-range technology strategy.

Koonin started his job at BP in 2004, following 29 years as a physics professor at CalTech.
