Plagiarism as "academic malpractice"

Back in 2006, IPBiz noted that Jiaotong University had announced the firing of star professor Chen Jin for
allegedly faking research on computer chips.

Fast forward to 2010, and one has the report of Xi'an Jiaotong University in Northwest China's Shaanxi province firing Li Liansheng over plagiarizing the work of others.

A statement: "Due to the severe academic malpractice of Li Liansheng, the university has decided to abolish his title of professor and terminate him as a teacher."

Concurrently, we have the legal malpractice action against Ropes & Gray for copying text from one patent into an application filed on behalf of Cold Springs Harbor Laboratory.
