“There’s no such thing as originality anyway, just authenticity”

The quote “There’s no such thing as originality anyway, just authenticity” appears in an article about the asserted plagiarism by Helene Hegemann in the book Axolotl Roadkill.

A character in the book observes: “I help myself everywhere I find inspiration.”

IPBiz notes the irony that a book accused of plagiarism includes aspirations to plagiarism.

In an article in the NYT on Feb 12 titled How Do You Handle Cheating and Plagiarism? there was the text:

when I read about the 17-year-old German wunderkind whose best-selling novel turned out to include passages lifted from another book.

and a comment:

It is just horrendous to see how unethical this Helene Hagemann is, saying that “it’s not plagiarism, it’s mixing”. I was wondering what she would do if a hacker was to “mix” the profits from “her” book with other people’s accounts…
