Only in New Jersey

The following story appeared in the 8 Sept 08 issue of the Bridgewater Courier-News:

According to a police affidavit filed in state Superior Court, Humphreys went to the Route 22 tavern at about 5:54 a.m. Aug. 24 to buy beer.

When he discovered the establishment was closed, he walked to the rear of the building and saw a ladder leading to the roof, the affidavit stated.

Humphreys then climbed the ladder to the roof and, using a broken chain saw he had found behind the business, he broke a plastic skylight on the roof, according to the affidavit.

Humphreys then attempted to hang from a ledge by the skylight and drop down onto a stool in the tavern's pool room. He landed on the stool, but fell forward onto the floor and broke his arm, the affidavit said.

Humphreys is 50 years old and resides at the Regency Motel on Route 22.

[This is not far from the stretch of Route 22 where the can-picking incident of 1986 was reported.]
