"NBC Nightly Olds" strikes again

On Wednesday, June 4, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" featured a story concerning "new" results on finasteride, the active ingredient in Merck's product PROSCAR.

The "new" analysis of data from the year 2003 was actually reported on 19 May 2008. [See for example the Reuters report by Will Dunham]. NBC didn't get around to the news for over two weeks!

Finasteride is sold by Merck as the ingredient in the baldness remedy Propecia.

NBC noted the drug was off-patent.

Maybe they should call it "NBC Nightly Olds"?
