Advice to educators: say "We do our own work here," if possible

A June 28 letter to the editor of the Washington Post contained the lines:

As with so many things in education today, students and society would be better off if teachers and administrators stood up and took a positive -- rather than a defensive, lowest-common-denominator -- approach. That would include a simple and enforced directive: "We do our own work here. Copying anybody, while easy, is not original."

Gee, but wasn't the latest plagiarism scandal right in the DC area (Reinoso)? And, the Harvard Business Review says "plagiarize with pride."
