Tate & Lyle files ITC action over infringement of sucralose patents
Tate & Lyle has filed a patent infringement action over sucralose (Splenda) against Chinese manufacturers Hebei Sukerui Science & Technology Co. Ltd., Changzhou Nuitang Chemical Plant Co. Ltd. and Guangdong Food Industry Institute at the ITC on April 6, 2007.
Separately, certain Wal-Mart stores were selling a competitor to Splenda known as Altern, which included a sweetening ingredient made in China. Wal-Mart later withdrew the alternative product from sale.
