NEC and SouthWest Nano do licence deal on nanotubes

NEC Corporation has concluded an agreement with SouthWest NanoTechnologies (SWeNT), according to which it grants SWeNT a non-exclusive licence under basic patents owned by NEC covering fullerene nanotubes discovered by Dr. Sumio Iijima, a senior research fellow at NEC, in 1991.

Whether fullerene nanotubes are an inherent product in Boudouard carbon or in transition-metal catalyzed filamentary carbon growth (RTK Baker) may be suggested.
