RIM's Mike Lazaridis talks of possible settlement

Mike Lazaridis: "We're interested in a fair and practical solution to this. We've always wanted to get this behind us and I think we've planned well."

He also said: "We believe that the right thing will happen. We believe that we prepared for this as best we can and that it will work itself out."

"We've prepared the workaround, and again it's all part of our being prepared for any contingency." Lazaridis founded RIM about two decades ago when he was a student.

One does ask: was RIM prepared for the patent litigation?

And, if they have a workaround, why don't they just implement it, pay for past damages, and move forward?
