ITC to investigate complaint by HP against Gateway/eMachines

On August 5, the ITC identified Gateway Inc. and eMachines as respondents in a complaint brought by Hewlett-Packard. The case involves imports of certain personal computers, monitors and component parts that Hewlett-Packard says infringe on its patents.

The panel has not yet set a target date for completing the probe, which it handed to an ITC administrative judge. The ITC could block the computer product imports if it determines patent infringement has occurred.
