Mosaid and Infineon settle patent dispute

Reuters: Canada's Mosaid Technologies Inc. said on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, that it has settled its patent suits with German chip manufacturer Infineon Technologies, but did not disclose financial terms of the highly anticipated deal.

Under the settlement, Infineon and its memory products spin-off, Qimonda AG, will both get a six-year license to Mosaid's entire semiconductor patent portfolio and a 'lives of the patents' license to disputed Mosaid patent families.

Payments to Mosaid will begin in the second quarter of fiscal 2007 and continue on a quarterly basis over the license term.
